What is the difference between Online Auth or Deferred Auth?

Modified on Wed, 8 Jul at 2:35 PM

  • Online Auth - The transaction is verified in real-time by sending details to the bank or card issuer over the internet. The transaction is immediately authorised and processed.

  • Offline Auth (Deferred Auth) - This method allows payment details to be securely stored locally and processed later when an internet connection is available. The transaction is initially authorised offline by the payment device, and once the connection is restored, the transaction is sent for final processing and settlement. This is useful in environments where internet access is limited or unavailable.
